Australian Youth for Climate Change (AYCC) Letter 2012 to Rob Oakeshott, Federal MP Lyne Mid North Coast NSW, urging him not to move a motion in parliament to provide incentives to burn native forests as ‘renewable’ energy

AYCC argue that none of the 8 reasons provided by the Federal MP for why he is moving this motion are factually correct. They were so concerned that they raised money to buy an ad in a local newspaper to urge him not to move this motion – all to no avail. In the end however his motion was defeated by 1 vote. Up until that time Rob Oakeshott had been targeted heavily by the National Party and apparently fell in line with some of the arguments of politically powerful National Party players.
